Check out: The Tempranos - Boss Reggae from Paraguay!

One of the bands I've been listening for a while, straight from Paraguay.. Latin goes Early Reggae.. enjoy.

In December 2008, after a year exchanging opinions about the reggae scene in Paraguay, and trying to give people a chance to know about old school jamaican music, The Tempranos is formed. Playing skinhead reggae, rocksteady, and also experimenting with 60..s jamaican ska, The Tempranos starts to give people a new concept of reggae music. In the summer of 2009 we organize two gigs in Asunción. One with Dj Vison from The Crabs Corporation and another with Juan Sound from Ciudad del Este and Cae Selector from Brasil. These two shows are a real party, with a lot of dancing before, during, and after the concert. The band started by covering jamaican reggae and rocksteady classics such as Alton's "Gonna take a miracle", Holt..s "I see your face". Dekker's "Shanty Town" and much much more. But since April 2009, we started writing our own songs to be presented in an EP now in May, the same songs presented here in Myspace. Actually, the band also plays traditional ska, and has two original instrumentals that are usually played live, but are still not recorded. The band is formed by Diego Ryghin (guitar), Paulo González (keyboards), Paco "Al Pacone" (bass), and Walter Rodriguez (drums). Hugo Falcón and Gabriel Orue complete the line up both playing sax, and Gustavo Pedersen colaboration can be heard on the trombone.

The Bullets CD Release Party, JUNE 1st!

A mixture of skinhead reggae with a touch of Chicano soul, check out their Bio: The Bullets are a powerhouse of proud L.A musicians that play an infectious groove never heard before. Showcasing the sound of classic organ drenched grooves that will cause jaws to drop, this band plays music that will remind you of the days brown eyed soul ruled East Los Angeles. Music that will remind you of the latest Pama Reggae hit to sweep London town.

Formed by Aggrolite Organist Roger Rivas, The Bullets all come from previous reggae outfits that share the same definition of Reggae & Soul music. The Chicano - Jamaican connection within L.A is real! Influenced by true Los Angeles oldies, The Bullets believe its time to bring back the oh so sweet tempo & taste. This collective does not hold back on its reggae either. Shot after shot, the bubbly scratches gets the crowd swaying. Get Ready......The Bullets are here to conquer.

The Riddim Box Presents: A Tribute to Lynn Taitt 3/2

He was born Nerlynn Taitt, in San Fernando, Trinidad where, before taking up the guitar aged 14, he got his start as a musician playing in local steel drum bands. He formed his own band, which was booked by Byron Lee to perform at the 1962 independence celebrations in Jamaica. Taitt decided to stay in Jamaica, living in Kingston, and played in a number of bands including The Sheiks, The Cavaliers, and The Comets, and worked with Baba Brooks, The Skatalites and Tommy McCook and the Supersonics. The most successful of his groups was The Jets, formed in 1966 and which included Hux Brown, Headley Bennett, Hopeton Lewis, Gladstone Anderson, and Winston Wright. Taitt's guitar style was inventive and unconventional, with a sharp percussive sound that accented the rocksteady beat. Lynn Taitt and the Jets played on hundreds of recording sessions for Jamaican producers such as Bunny Lee, Duke Reid, Joe Gibbs, Coxsone Dodd, and Sonia Pottinger, often performing up to five sessions a day. Their recording of "Take It Easy" was one of the first rocksteady singles and it reached number one in the Jamaican singles chart.

Taitt's contribution to Jamaican popular music includes his role as arranger and session leader for many of the recordings that he appeared on. He has been credited as having created the first rocksteady bassline, on the song "Take It Easy" by Hopeton Lewis. Various other Jamaican recordings have been cited as the "first" rocksteady release such as Alton Ellis & the Flames' "Girl I've Got a Date", and the Derrick Morgan rude boy anthem "Tougher Than Tough" with Lynn Taitt playing guitar on all of three.
