Bubble Up - Reggae @ Little Temple, SUNDAYS!
Four years ago a cat named Chris started spinning at a little club called Akbar in Silverlake, CA. His buddy Terry Lee ran the door and helped spread the word about the new night. It was called The Rocksteady Lounge. It wasn’t a big spot but was perfect for what he was spinning. Vintage Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady on a Monday night. No one thought much of it. We started going though and having a great time. That lead us to come back the next week of course and the week after. Chris would invite friends to spin with him from time to time – David Orlando (Dub Club/ Punky Reggae Party), Jim Bigger Boss, Nina Reggaedelic Cole, me on occasion and other special guests. Just some friends hanging out listening to wicked cool tunes. A regular bunch of true reggae fans getting together and really listening to the music.
